The Marti Kramer Award for Leadership Excellence

Award Description

In honor of the NSPE member in California that best exhibits the volunteer spirit of self-directedness and initiative in serving the Society and its members, serving as a role model for promoting member value in NSPE.

Criteria

Recipient must be an NSPE member in good standing whose primary place of work is the State of California.

Recipient, in the eyes of the NSPE-California Board of Directors and/or its appointed committee where applicable, best exemplifies professional leadership and volunteerism in the Society as demonstrated by the following:

  • Self Directed Action - takes initiative to promote events and/or activities that foster member value
  • Member Value Stewardship - remaining active and engaged in NSPE-California society-wide matters such as governance, project planning, project delivery
  • Local and National Leadership - maintains an active presence with NSPE at the national level, which may include collaborating with other NSPE Societies, serving on NSPE wide Task Forces and initiatives, and represents California in the best possible light to other NSPE societies and affiliates

Nominees

Nominations will be made by the Board of Directors and/or its appointed committee.

Award Recipient

The Award Recipient will be presented the award at the annual NSPE-California membership meeting.

Frequency

The award is issued at most once each fiscal year.

The Board and/or appointed committee may, at its discretion, elect to not nominate anyone in the event there are no qualified candidates nominated.

About Marti Kramer

This award is named in honor of long time NSPE-California Executive Director, Marti Kramer, CAE who led the Society’s well being and operational health for nearly three decades. Marti was a distinguished leader within NSPE, NSPE-California, and its Education Foundation, including having served in the NSPE Western Region leadership as well as on the NSPE National Board of Directors. Marti also served within partner societies such as CalSAE, ASAE representing the association executives profession.

Inaugural Award

The inaugural presentation of the Marti Kramer Award for Leadership Excellence was awarded on June 22, 2019 to Joseph Quinn, PE of El Segundo, California and presented to him in person by Marti Kramer before the NSPE-California membership at the 2019 NSPE end of year Board Meeting and Membership Workshop.
